EAST CHIPPEWA CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN
Continuing the work of Jesus. Peacefully. Simply. Together.
Meet Pastor Mike Huffaker
It is my joy and pleasure to be the Pastor at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. In January 2026, I had my 2 year anniversary as their Pastor. I continue to be excited in what God is going to do as we, together continue to serve Him.
I guess you could say that I am Birthright Brethren. In saying that, I don’t want to seem arrogant, but I appreciate Brethren values. (Bible-Believing – New Testament Church, Spirit Led, Peace and Justice, Simple Living, Communal Worship of God Together) As many know, growing up, the Church of the Brethren tag line was Continuing the Work of Jesus, Peacefully, Simply, Together. Today, the vision is Together, as the Church of the Brethren, we will passionately live and share the radical transformation and holistic peace of Jesus Christ through relationship-based neighborhood engagement. I grew up in the Church of the Brethren. I believe as we live out our faithfulness, we will be Jesus in the neighborhood. My grandfather, Perry, and my father, John were pastors. So, yes, I am a third generation pastor and proud of the heritage and legacy.
Here is my educational and call journey in ministry, I have a Bachelor of Arts from Bridgewater College. I have a Master of Divinity Degree from Bethany Seminary. Since graduating Seminary in 1996, I served Trotwood Church of the Brethren in Ohio as Minister of Music/Associate, and the rest of my journeys, I was the sole Pastor in 4 other congregations: Ankeny Church of the Brethren in Iowa, Williamson Road Church of the Brethren in Virginia, Osage Church of the Brethren in Kansas, and Sugar Creek West Church of the Brethren back in Ohio. I have been a licensed minister for 30 years and I became ordained in 2005, so, I have been an ordained minister for 21 years.
I met the love of my life, Laura, in May, 2001. We were married September 8, 2001. We have a blended family and together we have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. Our children and grandchildren are a blessing to us. Since coming to Northern Ohio District 10 years ago, I have served on the Northern Ohio District Board. I am the chair of the ministry commission. I have 2 years remaining as I serve in that capacity. I love to lead bible studies at church; I love to play golf and basketball. Being the Pastor at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren has been a blessing to me and my family.
So, when you are look at this Website, please take the time to introduce yourself to me. I would like to make connection. Email: eccbpastor@gmail.com
God Bless you,
Pastor Mike Huffaker

MEET OUR CHURCH
East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, like other ‘Church of the Brethren’ Churches has her roots in the 1708 ‘Brethren movement’ led by Alexander Mack in Schwarenau, Germany. The founders of East Chippewa CoB (est.1890) were committed to living for Jesus Christ by loving, sharing and serving others in His name. Today, that same vision fuels our local Church. Our Church’s Mission Statement continues to support the above pursuits and desire in the context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
‘East Chip’ is made up of a multigenerational and multiethnic folks that seek to love God and people & each other by living and proclaiming His Word. East Chip’s folks have a wonderful way of making people feel accepted and at home.
Come and join us and experience the difference!
